Effective communication is and always has been an important feature in enhancing excellent managerial performance. Communication is the lifeblood of every phase of organization life. Communication is a means of bringing about change. It is the mainstream of any organization growth. There is need form interaction and understanding of management-employee relations this will bring about increased performance of all parties involved in the communication process or chain. According to Banihashemi (2011), communication as a medium, a means to performance ends, or as constitutive, as the end in itself.Communication is a process of transmitting information from one person to another. According to Stephen (2011), communication is a critical factor in directing and mobilizing the workforce towards the accomplishment of the organizational goals or objectives. By creating understanding it enhances co-operation and promote effective performance. According to Williams (2007) smart managers understand that the end effective, straight forward communication between managers and employees is essential for success. According to (Mckinney,Barker, Smith &Davis,2004)communication is essential to effective team performance and communications for any organization is like blood flow in the human body. Therefore, any organization that understands the importance of communication uses it in their organizational environment. Since, it ensures coordination of factors of production and most importantly material and human elements of organization as an efficient network of change and advancement. According to Snavely (2001) as cited by Robins(2006), communicationprocess is initialled through the following means the sender-encoding-the message-the channeldecoding-the receiver- noise and feedback. It is estimated that managers spend over 80% of their day communicating with others. Since most of the basic management process- planning, organizing, leading and controlling – cannot be performed without effective communication. Importantly, the relevance of communication keeps advancing as the world becomes a Global village. The need to become visible to the world has made many organizations to embrace new technology that would increase organizational performance. There are also many issues affecting communication ranging from difference in sex, role of silence, inference of government and cross- cultural inference. Many of sure organization is the Delish Nigeria Ltd, as it explores the e-learning and e- training to empower its staff and student in the use of the internet in communicating policies, lectures, staff development and lot more. This would stand as a mile stone for the company as a whole networked for effective communication and performance.Therefore, it becomes important to emphasize on innovation and effective use of communication medium or channel to bring about high performance rate. Hence any breakdown in communication process or chain can have serious adverse effects on organizational performance.
The basic theory of effective communication says that everyone is an organization should have all the information he needs to perform his job properly. Manager’s communication will create a climate for good human relations and provides effective motivations for employees.According to Little (2015) communication is the process by which information is passed between individual and organization by means of previously agreed symbols. In other words, it is the exchange of ideas, facts opinions by two or more people.Oni (2012) sees communication as the means by which information is passed from one persons to the decisions makers and resulting decision passed to these involved in executing them without superior or subordinate’s communication, there could be organization since it would be impossible to get people to do in a coordinating way: people would be linked together or abstract chain of command but acting without chain of understanding. Management in some organization seems incapable of communication effectiveness and successful with the work done.Subordinates do not comprehend what they are told by superiors and the administrator does not hear clearly through what the subordinates are trying, to tell him, when such situation arises productivity will fall drastically. Therefore, managers should be greatly concerned with information system and how they are working to promote the growth of the organization.According to Onuta (2021) daily contact between subordinates and superiors is the most important and suddenly used method of communication. The need together free flow of message through open channels of communication on which in a firm is essential for the smooth running of the organizational machinery. The success of any organization depends on the caliber of its administrative managers. Where a manager’s communication is poor, coordination is poor since coordination implies that people are manager has to interpret information generated by his subordinates and pass such information either upwards or horizontal to his superior and peer respectively.
In this way, they improve managerial performance. Hence, the information must be understandable between the sender/code and the receiver/decoder and must be acted upon before we say that communication process has been completed.It is for the foregoing reason that research work center ground the role of effective communication on the growth of small scale business using Delish Nigeria Ltd as a case study. Using this organization, the researcher tends to find out the extent in which communication effectiveness can contribute to the growth of small scale business in Nigeria.
Many industrial disputes originate due to failure in communication. Hence it is important to stress that in communication, emotions, environment, psychological and technical characteristics of the medium is relevance to enhance the organizational performance. In the view of Okoye (2004), psychologically transmission goes beyond reception of information but understanding and feedback. Most organizational conflict has been traced to breakage in communication as supported by (Lee, 2003; Scott, 2004). According to Chudi –Oji (2013), In spite of the laudable roles of effective communication in improving organizational performances, it is regrettable that some faculties pay lip service to the maintenance of effective communication systems. Change is a gradual and continuous process, giving room for inputs and adjustments. The new innovations, e-classroom, ICT awareness and appraisal methods are good in itself but the medium and level of communication is problematic. The major function of the organization is to attract more customers, develop the organization, and make profit in all its business transactions. All these cannot be realized if there is an ineffective communication skill by the organization management and the employees at large. There is lack of effective communication in the organization. These has hindered so many business innovation and development. Delish Nigeria Ltd in recent time was unable to operate efficiently. There is lack of effective communication in the organization, which is necessary for the affirmations of the objectives of the organization, and there is poor flow of information from top to the bottom. It was because of these problems that the researcher deemed it fit to use the company as a case study to indicate the role communication plays in the growth of small scale business in Nigeria.
The broad objectives of this study are to determine the role of effective communication in improving managerial performance as well as creating possible ways of maintaining effective communication in an organization.
Other objectives are therefore being stated below:
- To investigate the relationship between effective communication and employee performance in Delish Nigeria Ltd.
- To examine the communication techniques that enhances performance in Delish Nigeria Ltd.
- To ascertain whether communication gap has affected administration structure procedure in Delish Nigeria Ltd.
- Is there a relationship between effective communication and employee performance in Delish Nigeria Ltd.?
- How effective has the communication techniques enhanced employee’s performance in Delish Nigeria Ltd?
- To what extent has communication gap affected administration structure procedure in Delish Nigeria Ltd?

Every organization believes in the value of good and efficient staff performance. Therefore, it is pertinent to give considerable attention to these problems. This study will be of great significance to anybody who intends to work in an organization not to ignore effective communication to excellent managerial performance. It equally exposes managerial leadership on the need for effective communication to improve performance in the organization. The study will also serve as an instrument of social interaction through which relationship are established, extended and sustained between managers and workers and finally between managers and the general public.
This study will be limited to the role of effective communication on the growth of small scale business Nigeria, using The Delish Nigeria as a case study. The researcher has no intention to study the role of effective communication in other business organizations because every necessary information and facts will be provided by the organization.
Despite the limited scope of this research, it was affected with certain constraints which are as follows:
Time: In research of this type, a lot of time is needed by given the short time allowed for this study. It was not possible to do all that was required and necessary.
Resources: For the reason that I have no source of my income where to obtained funds, collect enough data the work, reduction was made in the quality of my work but the research work will be at normal quality, which means that the research work will make sense.
Location: The research will be based on the information collected from the staff of The Delish Nigeria. These were a very big problem due to some certain factors, like moving from the company to the communication.
Communication: Sending, giving or exchange of information and ideas.
Organization: An association or society people working together to achieve aim/goals.
Grapeview: An unofficial network of communication by which gossip and information and speed.
Channel: The course of company through which communication passes.
System: Orderly inter-connected a method of organization.
Destination: The phase to which a person or thing is going process, series of acts or change proceeding from one to the next.
Gesture: A movement of the part of the body, especially a hand or head, to expres and ide or meaning.
Social Distance: The distance between people who have different social back grounds such as education, wealth and religious persuasion.
Effective: A state of been active.
1.10 Chapter Organization
The chapter for this study will be based on five chapters i which chapter one will comprises of the introductory part for this study which include background of the study, statement of the problem, research questions, objectives of the study, significance of the study as well as scope and limitation of the study.
Chapter two of the study will deal with literature review regarding small and medium enterprises in solving unemployment problems. In this chapter, emphasis shall be given on the conceptualization, empirical review and theory underpinning the research.
Chapter three will discuss about the method used in data collection for this research workwhich include research design, population for the study, sample size and samplingtechniques to be used for the study, sources and instrument of data collection as well asdata analysis to be employed in analysing the data will be discussed.
The chapter four which will pay attention to the analysis of the collected data, hypothesestesting and discussions of findings.
Lastly, chapter five will summarize the findings of this study, give conclusion as well asmake recommendations based on the findings of this study.
