INTRODUCTION

The aim of the study is to examine the effect of communication skills on management performance. The specific objectives of the study are:

  3. To assess the current level of communication skills among managers.
  4. To evaluate the impact of communication skills training on management performance.
  5. To propose strategies for improving communication skills among managers.

The following research questions was stated for the study:

  5. What strategies can be proposed to improve communication skills among managers?

 

  • Research Hypothesis

The hypothetical statement for the study is stated below:

Ho: There is no significant relationship between communication skills and management performance.

H1: There is significant relationship between communication skills and management performance.

The significance of studying the effect of communication skills on management performance cannot be overstated. In the first instance, this research could provide valuable insights into the intricate relationship between a manager’s communication abilities and their overall performance. Understanding this relationship could help organizations identify areas of improvement for their managers, leading to enhanced productivity and efficiency.

 

This study could potentially highlight the specific communication skills that are most impactful on management performance. The study examines the effect of communication skills on management performance. The study is limited to Access Bank Plc, Ikorodu, Lagos.

 

1.8. Operational Definition of Terms

 

Effect: Effect refers to the result or consequence of an action or event. It can be positive or negative, depending on the context.

 

Communication: Communication skills are the abilities and techniques used to convey information, ideas, and emotions effectively to others. These skills include listening, speaking, writing, and non-verbal communication.

 

Management performance: Management performance refers to the effectiveness and efficiency with which a manager carries out their responsibilities and achieves organizational goals. It involves tasks such as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.

 

Communication: Communication, in general, is the process of exchanging information, ideas, and feelings between individuals or groups. It can be verbal or non-verbal and involves the use of language, gestures, and other forms of expression.
