ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MAJOR ETHNIC GROUPS IN CAMEROON
There are many different cultures represented in the country of Cameroon, which is situated in central Africa. About 250 distinct ethnic groups coexist in Cameroon, each with its own language, customs, and history.
Fewer than a dozen main ethnic groupings, however, account for the vast bulk of Cameroonians. The Bamileke, Bassa, Bantu, Beti-Pahuin, Fulani, and Tikar are just a few of these groups.
The Bamileke are well-known as one of Cameroon’s most populous ethnic groups due to their innovative and successful commercial practices. They are largely found in the country’s western regions and use the Bamileke language.
There is another sizable Cameroonian ethnic group called the Bassa, and they are concentrated in the country’s geographic center. Both their farming methods and their folk music and dancing have gained them widespread recognition. The name of their language is Bassa.
The Bantu are one of the main ethnic groups in Cameroon and may be found all throughout Central and Southern Africa. Both their farming methods and their long-held rituals and beliefs have made them famous. Bantu is the name of the language they use.
Another sizable Cameroonian ethnic group, the Beti-Pahuin are concentrated in the country’s southern regions. They have a rich history of music, dancing, and sculpture that has made them famous. Beti is their native tongue.
The Fulani are a significant ethnic group in Cameroon and a nomadic people that may be found all throughout West and Central Africa. Both their Islamic beliefs and their skill at herding livestock have made them well-known. Fulfulde is the name of their language.
The Tikar are another sizable Cameroonian ethnic group that make up a sizable portion of the country’s central region. They have a rich history of artistic expression, particularly in ceramics and textiles. The local tongue is known as Tikar.
